I can’t imagine my life without my headphones. They are needed in transport, at home, at a fitness centre. I’ve been using AirPods Pro for all patterns for a year now, but it’s not the most comfortable sports model. And it’s great that Apple bought Beats 6 years ago. Because they have a wide variety of options. And I found myself the perfect fit for sports: Beats PowerBeats Pro. They sit firmly in the ears and do not strive to fall out anywhere due to special temples. Well, we will talk about their sound separately. Go!

PowerBeats Pro: Package

The earbuds come in a fairly healthy box. But you have to pay tribute to Beats. Here the whole Apple style is respected. The box is as simple and black as possible. Another box smoothly slides out of it, from which the lid is smoothly removed, and inside there are already black-black headphones, more precisely, their case. Powerbeats Pro packaging is 70% recycled fiber.

Let’s put the case aside for now. We’ll have time to talk about it and remove the perfectly fitting cardboard insert. What do we have here? That’s right, the minimalistic Beats PowerBeats Pro package. The small envelope contains instructions and, of course, a sticker with the Beats logo.

But this is not the most important thing. The kit includes a branded black Lightning cable. Yes, this is perhaps one of the few devices that do not have an Apple logo, but it charges through the same connector. There are also 3 additional sets of ear cushions of different sizes, apart from what is already installed on the headphones.

Beats PowerBeats Pro Case

Let’s move on from the box and packaging to the case. He is big. No, really, it is much larger than the case of the same AirPods. You need to understand that the headphones themselves are larger due to the temples.

But carrying such a case in your pocket won’t work. You will have to use a bag or even leave the case at home. On the one hand, this is not very convenient. But these are still headphones not for daily use, but sports, so there is no problem.

However, I must say that the case is very durable and reliable. So nothing will happen to him in the bag. Its latches are magnetic, and I don’t even always manage to open it with one hand. But I know that it will not open accidentally in a bag, and the headphones will not fall out.

We open the case and see the headphones here, which are quite loosely placed. No, really, there is a lot of space around them, and the case could have been made smaller, but it would not be so beautiful.

In general, a case is like a case, which is why I became attached to it. The only thing I really miss is the wireless charging. But I use headphones about 3 times a week for 2-2.5 hours. And I had to charge them once today. I put it on for 5 minutes and went to workout. Thanks to Fast Fuel, they charge for 1.5 hours during this time. It is very cool. If you do not use a case, then the charge is enough for all daylight hours – 8-9 hours with a case for a day.

The headphones were made quite light, even though visually, they seem massive. No, this is a misleading impression. They are lightweight, compact, and the ear hook is not even visible behind the ear. In people with long hair, they will generally be invisible.

Most importantly, they cannot be lost. I ran, jumped, rolled over. The Beats PowerBeats Pro held firmly in my ear and didn’t even try to pop out. By the way, the temples are flexible, and you can bend them under your ear, which is very convenient.

The ergonomics are very similar to those of the Apple AirPods Pro. Well, just now, the earpads and the case are different, but the speaker unit itself is very reminiscent of white headphones. Or it seems to me already.

This black sensor, by the way, detects when you put on or take off your headphones. Depending on the movement, it turns the music on or off. Why doesn’t everyone do that?

As for the controls, they are duplicated here. Each earbud has volume buttons, as well as a Beats button that lets you turn music on and off, reject or answer a call. There is also a microphone for voice control.

Beats offer as many as 8 colours for its PowerBeats Pro headphones: cream, black, navy blue, dark olive, cloudy pink, spring yellow, fire red, and snow blue. Of course, the prettiest is the blue one with the golden Beats logo. But I chose a dark olive green to match the green iPhone 11 Pro better.

Beats PowerBeats Pro features

Even though I compared the PowerBeats Pro with AirPods Pro, they are more similar to the AirPods 2 in terms of filling. The fact is that they run on the same Apple H1 chip. As I said earlier, the optical sensor understands when you put on and take off the headphones. There are two directional microphones, a motion recognition accelerometer and a speech recognition accelerometer.

The drivers here are large, piston-driven. Moreover, there is a ventilation chamber here to relieve pressure from the ear. All this helps to balance the low frequencies, and the headphones sound as natural as possible. What’s nicer is the wide dynamic range that AirPods won’t have. Well, the bass, which is usually not found in small TWS headphones.

However, there is no noise reduction here. On the one hand, it’s sad, because now even budget models have it, and PowerBeats Pro cannot be called that. On the other hand, there is still an emphasis on quality sound during classes. And when running on the street or yoga in the hall, noise reduction is practically not needed. Moreover, there is sound insulation here, and it protects from many external irritants.

Of course, there are all the charms of TWS headphones here. Each of them is a separate device, and only one can be used. For this, the buttons were duplicated. Many people prefer to practice with one earphone to hear the coach, for example. It would have been problematic before, but in 2020 it would have been easy.

Well, a rather important feature is the waterproofness of the headphones. Of course, you shouldn’t swim in them, but the gadget is protected from sweat and even rain, and that’s great.

Conclusions: Should you buy Beats PowerBeats Pro?

The Beats headphones came out great, but not entirely unambiguous. They look really cool and sound absolutely amazing. But for some reason, there is no noise reduction, although noise isolation does its job. Comfortable, lightweight, but with a large case. PowerBeats pro costs $149. Here you pay for both sound and appearance. And when you take the headphones in hand, you fully understand that it was justified. If you love high-quality sound and play sports, you cannot find better headphones on the market now.
