Lenovo was among the first to announce gaming laptops based on the latest 11th Gen Core processors (Tiger Lake-H45) and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050/3050 Ti graphics cards – the Legion 7i and 5i Pro models. Other significant improvements include 16-inch QHD IPS panels with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 165Hz support, and G-Sync technology.

The new items are based on the already familiar Legion 7i and 5i Pro versions with AMD Ryzen 5000 processors and NVIDIA Geforce RTX 30-series graphics cards, which debuted at the beginning of the year but already on the Tiger Lake-H45 platform.

The Legion 7i is a powerful yet heavy-duty gaming laptop. Its weight is from 2.5 kg.

The flagship of the line – the 16-inch Legion 7i model – in the top-end configuration is equipped with an NVIDIA RTX 3080 (16 GB) graphics card with a TGP up to 165 W and a GPU frequency of 1710 MHz. Most of the existing gaming laptop models are equipped with more economical GPU options. That is, given a sufficiently effective cooling system, the graphics performance of this model should be impressive. In the configurator of this model, the flagship Intel Core i9-11980HK processor (8 | 16, 2.6-5.0 GHz) is available.

The Legion 7i comes with a 300W power adapter, but if you load it with simpler tasks (rather than gaming), you can recharge the battery via the USB-C port up to 95W. The Lenovo Legion 7i will go on sale in June 2021 for $1,770 for the base configuration.

A notch lower in power is the Legion 5i Pro, which features an equally fast (1ms response time) QHD 16:10 IPS screen. Its top configuration offers a CPU Core i7-11800H and an NVIDIA RTX 3070 GPU with a 140W TGP with an increased frequency of 1,620 MHz.

Despite some differences, the 5i Pro inherits most of the features and ports of the Legion 7i, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports, three full-size USB 3.2 ports, an Ethernet connector, and an HDMI 2.1 port for 4K output up to 120Hz to compatible external monitors. It is available in two versions with 15, “and 17” screens, fast 3200 GHz DDR4 RAM and PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage, but capacities vary by configuration.

The flip side of the flagship Legion 7i. The rest of the models are similar in appearance but without RGB backlighting.

In the US, the Legion 5i Pro will start shipping in June, starting at $1,330.

The Legion 5i lineup also includes 15 “and 17” options. There are not many differences in the spec sheet compared to the 5i Pro, except for the lack of a 16:10 aspect ratio display. But these are still fast QHD panels. In addition to the configuration with the Core i7-11800H + RTX 3070, there is also a more affordable variant with the Core i7-11400H and RTX 3050. They will begin sales in July, and the price starts at $970.
