As promised, the presentation of the second generation of the foldable smartphone from Huawei took place today. The device’s main innovation was a change in its form factor: in previous versions, the display turned outward, and the Mate X2 received a design similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Mate X2: Display
The main bendable OLED display has a diagonal of 8.01″, a resolution of 2480×2200 pixels, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and a sensor polling rate of 180 Hz. The additional screen is also made using OLED technology. Its diagonal is 6.45 ″, the resolution is 2700×1160 pixels, the refresh rate is 90 Hz, the sensor polling rate is 240 Hz. Thanks to the new hinge, the screen at the bend are shaped like a drop, and the two halves of the smartphone lean against each other without the slightest gap.
Mate X2: Processor
The hardware platform of the Huawei Mate X2 is the Kirin 9000 chipset with Mali-G78 graphics. The smartphone is available in configurations with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage. The battery capacity is 4500 mAh, 55W wired charging is supported.
Mate X2: Camera
The main camera consists of four modules. The main 50 MP sensor has an f/1.9 aperture and optical stabilization. It is accompanied by a 16 MP ultra-wide (f/2.2), 12 MP telephoto (f/2.4, OIS, 3x optical zoom), and an 8 MP SuperZoom camera (f/4.4, OIS, autofocus, 10x optical zoom). Front camera resolution – 16 MP (f/2.2).
Mate X2: Connectivity
The Mate X2 supports 5th generation networks (primary SIM). It is equipped with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, USB-C port. The device runs under the proprietary shell EMUI 11.0, based on Android 10. By the way, the smartphone will be one of the first to receive the HarmonyOS operating system. The update will start rolling out in April.
Mate X2: Price
The Huawei Mate X2 is available in four colors. The cost of new items is $2785 for the 8/256 GB version and $2939 for the 8/512 GB version. The device will go on sale on February 25.
