In recent months, the network has repeatedly met information that Google is preparing to release the second generation of the Nest Hub smart display. Now the company has officially presented the device.

Google Pixel Fold foldable smartphone concept hit the web

The appearance of the Nest Hub has not changed. As before, it is equipped with a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. The device is offered in four colors: gray, black, pink, and blue.

Inside the smart display is a machine learning chip that allows you to execute Google Assistant commands locally quickly. The Nest Hub also features a 1.7-inch speaker, which should deliver 50% more bass than the first-generation driver. There is also a third microphone for receiving voice commands.

However, the second-generation Nest Hub’s main innovation is the Soli chip installed in the upper right corner of the device. It allows you to pause music playback or snooze an alarm using gestures in the air. We saw similar gestures on the Pixel 4/4 XL. Also, thanks to the Soli chip, the new Sleep Sensing function works. The sensor analyzes the user’s movements and breathing during sleep, identifying various anxiety (coughing, snoring, slight fluctuations, temperature changes) that affect sleep. The smart display shows sleep quality information (or you can ask, “Hey Google, how did I sleep”). Sleep quality reports will also come to the Google Fit app, and over time, the service will start offering tips on how you can improve your sleep. Sleep Sensing will be available as a free preview until next year.
