Quick phrases is a new feature that may appear in Google Assistant in the future. It allows you not to call the trigger phrase “Hey Google” to perform mundane tasks, for example, to ask what time it is, turn on the light, change the audio volume, change the track, etc. This functionality has not yet been officially announced, so there is no information about when it will appear and which devices will support it.

The feature was first discovered back in April, codenamed “Guacamole”. Then the item “Voice shortcuts” was found in the settings. It was assumed that it allows you to turn off alarms and timers, as well as answer incoming calls without a trigger phrase. Now an updated menu has been found that contains more commands (“salsas”) that can be executed without the “Hey Google” trigger phrase.

Google Assistant will be able to execute some commands without a trigger phrase "Hey google"

The screenshot shows that the user can select specific phrases that Google Assistant should respond to without “Hey Google”. It will also use Voice Match technology so that the system can only respond to your voice. Quick phrases are divided into several categories: Recommended, Alarms, Connect, General info, Lights, Media controls, Timers, To- Dos (Tasks).

Unfortunately, the function is not working yet, so you need to wait for the official information from Google. It is possible that the company is announcing “Quick phrases” at its fall presentation.
