YouTube has developed several new features designed to make it easier to find what you’re looking for among the vast array of content on the platform.
YouTube will now show video chapters directly in search results. This should make it easier to navigate to the video part that is most useful to the user. Instead of opening the video and scrolling through the chapters in search of the desired fragment, the user will browse chapters from the search and jump to specific places in the video.
YouTube also adds video previews to search results on mobile devices. This allows users to view a short clip of the video before clicking on it.
Another innovation is intended to help when users cannot find the content they want in their own language. In this case, YouTube will show videos with automatically translated subtitles, titles, and descriptions in search results. Initially, this feature will offer videos in English, but YouTube plans to expand it to other languages in the future.
Finally, the company is experimenting with adding site links and “other formats” from Google Search to YouTube search results. This experiment is only available for mobile devices in India and Indonesia, but it says it will “consider expanding” the feature to other countries.
