Lu Weibing, Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group China, announced that the company plans to become the top 1 in the smartphone market in the coming years, surpassing such giants as Apple and Samsung.

At the same time, he added that the main lever for achieving this goal will be China and retail sales in this country. Today, 70% of all smartphone sales in China take place in retail stores. In the next three years, Xiaomi wants to break the mark of 30,000 offline stores across the country. Although now the company has only 10,000 retail outlets. In this indicator, Xiaomi lags behind other well-known Chinese manufacturers such as OPPO and Vivo.

The goal of overtaking Apple seems feasible. Xiaomi is only slightly behind in terms of sales. But Samsung will be much more difficult to catch up. In the third quarter of 2021, the Chinese giant was able to sell 44.4 million of its smartphones, while Samsing sold 69 million devices.
