The iPhone is still considered Apple’s most important product, but that’s far from the case. Don’t be distracted by everyone hoping to see an Apple Car or wondering what an Apple AR headset might look like, claiming the iPad is the computer of the future, or wishing Apple had already made a TV. The iPhone still accounts for the majority of Apple’s revenue, and iPhone users who also pay for iCloud and Apple TV Plus buy cases, cables, headphones, and smartwatches account for even more. Apple has been making the iPhone for over a decade now, and that’s not going to change anytime soon.
But the iPhone may not be the star of the show today, September 7th, when Apple holds its annual fall product launch. Yes, we expect new iPhones – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max – but they will probably be the last in the lineup of the very best iPhones. The iPhone is a stunning yet fully mature product, and perhaps its most mind-blowing innovations have already been implemented.
Instead, keep an eye out for Apple’s small screen gadgets, because the most important device category that Apple will talk about this week is the Apple Watch. It looks like Apple is preparing to announce as many as three new smartwatch models, including the Apple Watch Pro, which is bigger (obviously a lot bigger), more powerful and more useful than any previous versions of the watch.
