What’s new in Apple CarPlay in iOS 15?

Apple yesterday announced a new version of the iOS operating system, but during the event, it did not pay attention to the CarPlay system, which is used in cars. Let’s take a look at what’s new for drivers in iOS 15.

The Announce Messages feature, which will soon be available for AirPods, will also appear in CarPlay. It will automatically read out new messages as soon as they appear on your smartphone. This option should be more convenient than tapping on the notification so that the system reads it because the driver will thus be less distracted by the screen. If there are many messages, you can silence them so that the incoming does not distract you.

In iOS 15, Do Not Disturb morphed into Focus mode. It allows you to customize the notification behavior based on the time of day or where you are. CarPlay has a Driving Focus mode activated automatically when the smartphone is connected to the car’s multimedia system. You will be able to share your Driving Focus status with your friends so that they will know that you are currently driving. You can also choose which contacts and applications can send notifications when this mode is activated.

In addition, iOS 15 CarPlay will receive new wallpapers (all with support for light and dark themes). Apple Maps users will be able to evaluate more detailed maps in certain cities (San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London).
