Hollywood studios are actively involved in relaunching the Lord of the Rings franchise, and after the Amazon game series Lord of the Rings, a full-length anime film entitled The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim will be released. Production will be handled by Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema, with the picture originally intended for theatrical release.
The film follows the fate of the ninth King of Rohan, Helm The Hammerhand, after whom Helm’s Deep was named with the Hornburg citadel. Helm lived several centuries before the events of The Lord of the Rings, so we will not see the heroes familiar from the trilogies in the new anime. By the way, you probably saw the siege of this fortress in the movie “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”:
The film was written by Joseph Chow (Blade Runner: Black Lotus), Jeffrey Addis, and Will Matthews (both The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) and directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045). Consistent with the spirit of the universe will be the responsibility of consultant Philip Boyens, who wrote both Peter Jackson’s trilogies The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
The exact timing of the release of “The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim” on the screens is still unknown.
