Zelensky signed a law on cloud services - the main state IT services will move to the

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on cloud services, which the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted on February 17. It will allow the use of cloud services in government agencies and, therefore, reduce corruption risks in equipment procurement and significantly reduce budget costs.

According to The Economist, the volume of digital information is growing tenfold every five years. To process more and more information, authorities and local governments responsible for the operation of state information systems need to periodically increase the amount of computing and human resources.

In order to optimize the data processing process, the government decided to introduce the Cloud First principle – to transfer the main government IT services to the clouds.

Also, the law on cloud services will make Ukraine attractive to the world’s largest cloud service providers Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud. This should encourage the latter to invest and build large data centers in Ukraine.
