The market for smartwatches and sports bracelets continues to grow. Many companies presented their interesting novelties in 2021. This article will tell you about five curious smartwatches and a pair of sports bracelets that have become quite popular with buyers.
Xiaomi Mi Band 5
Let’s start with sports bracelets. Naturally, the most popular is the Mi Band 5, aka Mi Smart Band 5. The tracker is available in two versions: with support for Near Field Communication and without an NFC chip. It can work for about two weeks without recharging.
The electronics capsule has a 1.1 ”OLED colour display with a 126 x 294 dots resolution. The brightness is 450 nits. The wearable gadget is equipped with a sensor for detecting heart rate 24/7.

The Chinese company Honor this year announced a worthy competitor for Mi Band 5. It is called Honor Band 6. The sports bracelet also works for 2 weeks without recharging due to a 180 mAh battery and has 5 ATM water protection.
Display resolution increased to 368 x 194 pixels. The diagonal also increased in comparison with the Xiaomi tracker and amounted to 1.47 inches. The screen is based on an AMOLED matrix. The set of functions is standard for devices of this class.
The Honor Band 6 has a heart rate sensor that works around the clock; sleep monitoring is based on the Huawei TruSleep sensor; a sensor for determining oxygen level in the blood. Also, the bracelet can recognize exercise types, count calories and monitor stress.
Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2
Now let’s move on to smartwatches. Let’s start with the Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2 models, which the Chinese company Xiaomi also had a hand in the production of. Watches have a lot in common. Both gadgets monitor sleep, determine the level of blood oxygen saturation, monitor the pulse around the clock and are equipped with an NFC module.
Amazfit GTR 2 is equipped with around 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with 454 x 454 dots resolution. The 471 mAh battery provides up to 38 days of battery life. True, for this, you have to forget about the smart functions of the gadget.
Amazfit GTS 2 received a rectangular AMOLED matrix. The diagonal is 1.65 inches, and the resolution is 348 x 442 pixels. The battery’s charging capacity has been reduced to 246 mAh, and the maximum battery life is 20 days.

Garmin Forerunner 745
In the fall, Garmin announced the Forerunner 745 for running and triathlon. The gadget offers training plans for every day, can analyze sports performance and has all the key functions of a sports watch.
Garmin Forerunner 745 is equipped with a 1.2-inch round display with a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels and weighs less than 50 grams. The case is protected against 5 ATM water. Without recharging, the device can work from 6 hours to 7 days, depending on the mode of use.
Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE
Apple this year announced a pair of smartwatches. They are called Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE. Both models feature a 1.78-inch Retina LTPO OLED matrix with a resolution of 448 x 368 pixels, support Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and can work up to 18 hours on a single charge.
The watch received 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of permanent memory. The housing is protected against water. The younger model is based on the Apple S5 single-chip system and can calculate the heart rate. Apple Watch Series 6 has an Apple S6 processor, ECG capability, and can detect blood-oxygen levels.
Of course, many interesting smartwatches and sports bracelets announced in 2020 did not make it into the top 7. On the other hand, the presence of many gadgets on the market pleases, which creates a headache when compiling such tops. We hope that this “problem” will persist in 2021.
