Apple TV + has won an auction for a new sci-fi movie starring Tom Hanks, which will premiere later this year. It is expected to be a contender for various film industry awards.

The painting will be called “Finch.” In its center will be a man, a robot, and a dog. Hanks will play Finch, a robotics engineer who lived in an underground bunker for ten years after becoming one of the few survivors of a “catastrophic solar accident” that turned the world into a wasteland.

Finch creates a robot (played by Caleb Landry Jones of Get Out) to look after his dog Goodyear when he can’t. The Trinity embarks on a “perilous journey through the desolate American West,” where Finch discovers the joy of life.

The film is directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who directed several episodes of Game of Thrones. This will be the second movie starring Tom Hanks on the Apple TV + streaming platform since its Greyhound debut last year.
