The day before the actual deliveries of the new Tesla Model S began, the American automaker adjusted prices – the flagship sedan rose by as much as $ 10 thousand. Now its price on the American market (it is not sold anywhere else) – from 129,990 dollars (without any discounts).
It is noteworthy that the base Model S Plaid rose in price a few days after the head of Tesla, Elon Musk, announced the abandonment of the long-range Model S Plaid + with a power reserve of 840 km, which had previously risen in price by the same $ 10 thousand.
At the same time, Tesla has raised the cost of the junior Model Y Long Range crossover. True, not for 10 thousand dollars, but only for 500 dollars. Since the beginning of the year, Tesla has steadily dropped $ 500 in price of various Model Y and Model 3 variants every few weeks.
Earlier, the head of Tesla, Elon Musk, explained the rise in prices for the company’s junior cars over the past few months by the global shortage of chips. Earlier, the Financial Times wrote that Tesla is considering buying a chip plant as a possible way out of the predicament.
Elon Musk explained why Tesla cars are getting more expensive – due to “price pressure in the supply chain” (especially semiconductors)
