Samsung was the first company in the world to release a 108MP sensor for smartphone cameras. Continuing the tradition of “pioneers”, last week the company released the world’s first 200-megapixel sensor called Samsung ISOCELL HP1. But the ambitious plans of the South Korean giant do not end there.
Samsung is currently working on a 576-megapixel sensor, which it first talked about last year.
During the SEMI Europe Summit, one of the company’s executives announced that they are going to release such a sensor by 2025. However, it will not be designed for smartphone cameras. It is planned to be used in cars, drones and medical equipment.
So far, there is no information about the characteristics of the sensor.
