The new flagship smartphones Samsung Galaxy S21+ and S21 Ultra, have received support for ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. One of the options for its application is the use of digital car keys for operation. By the way, BMW recently spoke about the updated Digital Key Plus system, which will debut in the iX electric car. It allows you to unlock the car without taking your smartphone out of your pocket or bag. The Digital Key Plus will be compatible with the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 line-ups as they feature the U1 chip, which adds UWB support.

The Galaxy S21 + and S21 Ultra are likely to be added to the list of supported smartphones. During the Galaxy Unpacked presentation, Samsung collaborated with BMW, Ford, Audi, Genesis, and other companies to work on digital key technology using UWB technology. BMW also mentioned that it is working with other automakers to standardize digital key performance.

The non-UWB Galaxy S21 can also unlock your car but via NFC, which is also quite convenient. It looks like UWB support will become a new trend in smartphone manufacturing, especially after standardized digital keys.
