Almost three years after the announcement of the R1T and R1S electric vehicles, the American company Rivian has finally released the first production vehicle. The first born off the assembly line in Normal, Illinois, is the Rivian R1T electric pickup in Rivian blue.
The head of the company, Robert “RJ” Scaring, noted that after months of production of pre-production copies, the company has finally built the first “real” electric car and can not wait to transfer it to the first buyer.
After months of building pre-production vehicles, this morning our first customer vehicle drove off our production line in Normal! Our team’s collective efforts have made this moment possible. Can’t wait to get these into the hands of our customers! pic.twitter.com/8ZidwTaXRI

Note that the company has repeatedly postponed the delivery dates for its electric vehicles – it was originally assumed that the Rivian R1T Launch Edition electric pickup would hit the market in June this year, and the Rivian R1S electric crossover in the same Launch Edition version – in August 2021.
Both Rivian EVs are equipped with a single platform with four electric motors up to 750 hp, all-wheel drive and a 180 kWh battery with a range of 500 km. After the start of deliveries of electric vehicles, Rivian promises to present a more “long-range” version of the R1S electric crossover, as well as more affordable options for the R1S electric crossover and R1T electric pickup with a 400 km battery.
Also recall that Rivian is going to go public before the end of this year and expects an estimate of $ 70-80 billion, which will allow it to quickly increase production capacity.
