Microsoft is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Xbox with the release of several new translucent accessories, including a wireless controller and a wired gaming headset. They will go on sale November 15, 2021, with pre-orders available now.
Microsoft says the translucent controller is a reference to the transparent controllers that came with the original Xbox debug kits. The Xbox home button, as well as around the D-pad and rear handles, are interspersed with the brand’s signature green. Microsoft has painted the components silver to make them easier to see through the chassis. Inside, however, it’s the same model that comes with the Series S and Series X consoles, with Bluetooth connectivity for mobile and PC connectivity.
It costs $ 69.99 to pre-order this controller through the Microsoft Store, although it will most likely be available in various retail stores on launch day.
The Xbox Wired Stereo Headset has also become translucent, but in a more modest size. Its ear cushions are transparent and the left ear cushion bears the green 20th anniversary markings. There are also bright green accents on the grille between the ear cushions and cups, as well as on the microphone. This special edition headset will retail for $ 69.99, which is $10 more than the standard model.
The controller’s description reads: “Inspired by the styles and innovations of the past, this 20th Anniversary Special Edition Xbox Wireless Controller brings the best of the last 20 years.”
