The company Meta, which owns the social network Facebook, March 21 applied to a Russian court with a motion to dismiss the extremism case. Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation demanded that the court recognize Meta as an “extremist organization” and stop its activities in Russia.

Representatives of Meta asked the court for time to prepare for the defense and questioned the authority of judges to issue a ban on the activities of the social network in Russia.

Last week, Meta tightened content moderation for Ukraine, although Facebook spokesman Andy Stone said earlier that publications calling for the death of Putin and Lukashenko were temporarily allowed.
