Instagram is considering a fair overhaul of the Stories feature. As it became known to the resource TechCrunch, the company is developing a vertical scrolling option for stories, similar to scrolling through video clips on TikTok.
Twitter user Alessandro Paluzzi was the first to share a screenshot where you can see a description of how vertical Stories work. Instagram has confirmed to TechCrunch that such a feature is indeed in development, but it is not yet fully ready and is not currently being tested in the app. Thus, there is no guarantee that vertical Stories will appear shortly.
Transforming stories into a vertical feed can lead to the rejection of static content in Stories, such as photos and repost posts from the feed. Most likely, vertical Stories will prioritize video posts to better compete with TikTok, just as the algorithms are now changing to prioritize Reels videos launched last August.
