At the time of the announcement of the premium electric car Mercedes-Benz EQS this spring, we were sure that it would cost more than the ICE model of the same class Mercedes-Benz S-Class. At least, this is the logic that automakers have taught us, persistently putting a higher price tag on their electric models. After the announcement of the official prices for the US novelty, it turned out that now it is much cheaper to buy an electric S-ku than a gasoline one. This is just the latest development on the Mercedes electric fleet front
The initial version of the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric car, which will arrive in American dealerships this fall, received a price tag of $ 102,310. For comparison, the cheapest gasoline sedan Mercedes-Benz S-Class 2022 model year from the same dealers will cost $ 111,350.
The brand offers two platform options – the rear-wheel drive EQS 450+ and the all-wheel drive EQS 580 4MATIC (both with the same 108 kWh / 115 kWh batteries), as well as three versions of the electric vehicle equipment – Premium, Exclusive and Pinnacle.
As a result, the most affordable version of the EQS 450+ will cost $ 102,310 or $ 95,860 after receiving the tax credit, and the all-wheel drive EQS 580 4MATIC – from $ 119,110 or $ 112,660 after benefits. For comparison, in Germany, both versions are significantly more expensive – € 106,374 and € 135,529, respectively.
Recall that Mercedes-Benz promised that by 2025 all models of the brand will have a fully electric version, and from 2030 the manufacturer will completely switch to electric vehicles.
