The next game in the Dragon Age series will lose the multiplayer aspects. The game was originally “developed with a large multiplayer component,” but “in recent months,” it has been transformed into a single-player game.
There has been virtually no news lately about the next Dragon Age game. It was announced in December 2018 with a short teaser video. Although the actual development began back in 2015, there is no information yet on its release timing. There is also no information on how the multiplayer component of the game was supposed to look.
The game’s concept changes came amid other events that apparently prompted EA to transform Dragon Age into a single-player game. Recently, the company announced the cancellation of the reboot of BioWare’s Anthem Next game. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a single-player game released in November 2019, has surpassed sales expectations, according to Bloomberg. Obviously, this prompted the company to focus on single-user projects.
Dragon Age is one of BioWare’s most iconic franchises, thanks to its engaging single-player campaigns. Therefore, the news that the next game will not have a multiplayer mode, most likely, will not upset fans. In a recent interview with IGN, EA studio chief Laura Miele stated that the company listens to the players’ opinions and makes decisions based on that feedback.
Additionally, it is reported that EA canceled the development of a game codenamed Gaia, which has been in development for years.
