The last day turned out to be full of announcements of top chipsets. Qualcomm yesterday unveiled a new SoC Snapdragon 870, and today MediaTek showed Dimensity 1200 and 1100 chips.
Both systems-on-a-chip are built on the 6 nm process technology, by the way, for the first time in the MediaTek line. CPU Dimensity 1200 consists of a main Cortex-A78 core (3.0 GHz), three more Cortex-A78 cores (2.6 GHz) and four energy efficient Cortex-A55 cores (2.0 GHz). In the Dimensity 1100, all four Cortex-A78 cores run at up to 2.6 GHz, plus there are four Cortex-A55 cores (2.0 GHz). The Mali-G77 MC9 video adapters are responsible for graphics processing.
The chipsets received an integrated 5G modem with a maximum download speed of up to 4.7 Gbps. The Dimensity 1200 supports Full HD + displays up to 168Hz and the Dimensity 1100 up to 144Hz (they can also handle QHD + displays up to 90Hz). The image processor in Dimensity 1200 works with camera modules with a resolution of up to 200 MP, and in Dimensity 1100 – up to 108 MP. The chips are also compatible with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 modules.
The first smartphones with Dimensity 1200 and 1100 chipsets should be expected from Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme. Their release is expected this spring.
