The technology will continue to develop the idea that Apple showed last year when you could use Touch ID or Face ID to log into your account on sites.
Passkeys are needed to use the same authentication systems when registering. You need to enter your username and then use a face or fingerprint scanner. That’s it. Passwords are no longer needed.
Of course, the site must first implement Passkeys support for this to work. And, of course, all this is only for Safari. However, it is not yet clear how to log into the account from other devices that do not have Touch ID or Face ID.
Anyway, Passkeys will be working on iPhones, iPads, and Macs this year, so we’ll find out.
