In 2019, Apple earned about $ 8.5 billion from game sales – two billion more than the total operating income of Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and Activision in the same period, follows from appraisals analysts at The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

In their calculations, WSJ analysts relied on the latest report from the analyst firm Sensor Tower and official documentation released in the course of the trial between Epic Games and Apple. According to Sensor Tower report, in fiscal 2019, App Store revenue was $ 15.9 billion. App Store operating income for the same period was $ 12.3 billion, based on court filings. About 69% of the App Store’s revenue came from games – in monetary terms, this is about $ 11 billion.

At the same time, WSJ analysts estimate that Apple earned about $ 8.5 billion in 2019 from other people’s games, which, as noted above, is two billion more than the total operating profit of Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and Activision in the same period.
