TVs running Android TV should receive a system interface update over the next few weeks. The update will bring a redesigned home screen that looks like the Google TV shell installed on the Chromecast with a Google TV dongle. By the way, you can watch an overview of the device in the video below.

Android TV’s interface won’t be a complete Google TV, but the similarities are clear. The home screen is now divided into three tabs: Home, Discover, and Apps. The first one is similar to the current Android TV home page – it displays your favorite apps and various content recommendations.

The Discover tab is similar to the For You section on Google TV – there you can find movies and TV shows based on your preferences and those trending on Google search. The Apps tab, as you might guess, provides access to installed apps and the Play Store.

Google notes that the new interface will start rolling out in Australia, Canada, Germany, France, and the United States. Later, the update will be available in more countries.
